Through the public funding of +dimensions, knowledge and research transfer became a central focus of the project. Particularly the own publications within the framework of +dimensions publications, including two anthologies and the Open Educational Resources (OER), provided the opportunity to critically examine and further develop the publication structures at the art school.
An important approach was the introduction of hybrid publication models, starting with the existing open-access platform opus4, a collaborative repository shared by several Berlin art schools. The repository was further developed both technically and content-wise through +dimensions. Workflows and legal issues, particularly regarding copyright, were clarified and documented, guidelines were formulated, and in cooperation with the open access coordinator and the library, an open-access policy was adopted. The aim was to integrate open access more strongly into academic processes. Continuous exchange with internal and external partners, such as the library, art school administration, and the Berlin Open-Access Office, played a central role throughout the process.
These measures helped to initiate an open-access culture at the art school. Through targeted outreach to authors and the successful implementation of diverse sample projects, open access was anchored as a core component of the university's culture.
The process was examined in the +dimensions publication "Intertwining Practices: Lehren / Lernen / Forschen".
